Biography
K-Rino is the founder of the S.P.C. He started rappin’ in 1983 and released his 1st record “Rockin’ It” as a member of the group Real Chill in 1986. This record was the 1st record to drop from a South Park artist. Real Chill was one of the two groups in Houston to ever drop a rap record in the city. In 1987 he formed the South Park Coalition which is a collection of the hardest rappers from the South Park neighborhood of Houston, TX.
Then in 1990 he colaborated with fellow SPC member Dope-E of The Terrorists as C.O.D. and dropped an EP “Cummin’ Out Doggin’”. In 1993 K-Rino released his first solo album “Stories From The Black Book” on Eletric City Records. This album showed his ablity to hold down a complete album and is considered a classic Hip Hop album. Two years later he followed up with his second solo album “Danger Zone”.
Then in 1998 K-Rino was working with Cerebral Records out of Washington DC but K-Rino backed out before the album was complete due to creative control differences. Cerebral Records still released the self-titled “K-Rino” album, they changed guest apperances, beats and no real album art work was ever made. This album proofed to be a lesson to K, since then he has taking 100% creative control of his releases. After this his next release was going to be “Pay Back”(which was never released) the title aimed at this record label the fucked off his last album. He ended up going in a different direction and dropped “No Mercy” in 2000 back on Electric City Records.
Come 2002 the South Park Coalition came together as a clique and released “Personal Vendetta” they followed this up “Packin’ Heat” a year later. K-Rino appears all over both these albums next to some of the hardest lyricist such as A.C. Chill, DBX, Rhyme Felon, Ruff Eyque, Klondike Kat, Point Blank Ganksta NIP, Murder One and many more. Also in 2003 K-Rino released a greatest hits album “Ten Year Run” which also included 4 new tracks on it. Around this time K-Rino recorded “The Hitt List” with Reliant Entertianment, but when the man behind Reliant Entertianment(Patrick Lewis) lost interest in the music industry this release was held back for a year. K-Rino also linked back up with Dope-E(Murdoq), along with Lil’ Lo and recorded “The Majority Report” which was released in 2004 on Akasha Records.
K-Rino wasn’t going to just sit around and wait for others to make thing happen he continued recording and in the fisrt half of 2004 he released a compalition “Family Bizness” on his own label Black Book International. After this he was back at it recording his next solo project “Fear No Evil”. While getting ready to release “Fear No Evil” he was finally able to get in touch with Reliant Entertianment’s Patrick Lewis and K-Rino got the go ahead to release “The Hitt List” on BBI. So in 2004 he ended up dropping 3 solid albums on his own label.
It has been known that K-Rino has a strong fan base overseas one strong enough in Finland that in March of 2005, 3rd Rail Music flew him out there to do two shows. K-Rino documented his trip and both his performances and put it out on DVD “Live Finland”
With his first four releases being out of print and still heavily sought after K-Rino decided to start putting them back out there this time under his own label Black Book International. In the beginning of 2005 he pressed up “Special Limited Edition Re-Release” copies of “Stories From The Black Book”. The others to be avialable in the coming years. This year the Houston rap scene started getting some reconigtion from main stream media yet when MTV came to town they over looked one of the pioneers. This lack of appercation isn’t nothing new to K-Rino. He has been in the game for 20 years and still puts out his own music independently. However it could this type of lack of appreccation or exposure that lead to what could only be a sarcastic ablum title “Worst Rapper Alive” that he released before the end of 2005.
Staying on his grind K-Rino is right back at it in 2006 with the release of “Time Traveler” followed by the re-release of “Danger Zone” and “The Head Hunters” a SPC compalition album put together by K.
Throught out K-Rino’s career he has appeared a lot of different track with various artist. Most of these song could be found on his “Underground Guest Apperances Vol. I, II and III”.
